  An Experiment

April

Hi again! Life is good here in Urticator-land—for the first time in many months I've actually made a nice, normal, good-sized batch of essays.

Before I tell you about the essays, though, let me make a little announcement: if you didn't happen to see the link on my home page, you should go read An Experiment.

Once again, I've been writing mainly about driving. It's funny … a year and a half ago, in October 2000, I guessed I was halfway through writing about driving. Back then, there were 16 nodes in that subtree; now there are 37, and I have notes for at least 15 more, plus a fair number of paper notes I haven't gone through yet. On the other hand, I've been writing the most important ones first, so maybe I'll end up discarding some of the notes.

Some of the paper notes are from 1994. It's hard to believe that eight years ago I was already thinking the same thoughts. Where does the time go?

Anyway, here's a list of the new essays about driving.

Entrance Ramps
Foolish Consistency
Looking Ahead
Some Quirks of Mine
Speed Psychology

I added to some of the existing essays as well, but the only one that has substantial new material is Bubbles and Barriers.

The other thing I've been writing about is Latin. I finally finished the historical explanation, which has been sitting around incomplete since day one; I wrote essays on subjective and objective adjectives; I added a nice summary … and that, as far as I know, is everything I wanted to say about Latin. Yay!
