June

In April my folks and I drove down to Texas. That got me thinking about driving, again, and reminded me of several easy essays I'd never quite gotten around to writing. That seemed like a sad state of affairs, so I decided I'd write them when I got back, and that's what I did.

Cruise Control
Trucks
Preserving Options

Long-Distance Driving
Driving in West Texas

Actually, Preserving Options wasn't one of the easy ones, it was just something I'd been meaning to write about that happened to fit with another set of essays I was working on.

Flexibility
Mind Maps

Not much of a set, is it? Just kidding … there are many more essays that belong, I just haven't had time to finish them. They ought to be ready in a month or two.

Speaking of driving, there are two more things I should mention.

First, I had to split Memes for Good Driving in two to keep the table of contents reasonably short. For a bit more detail on that, see the second half, Memes (2).

Second, I'm really starting to feel that I'm close to being done, that I've said almost everything I want to say about driving. All that's left is a handful of essays and some random thoughts that I'm not sure what to do with.

So, there you have it. I'm actually quite pleased with this batch … I don't think I've had such a large and varied one since May 2002, just over two years ago. To finish, here are two more essays that I particularly like. Everything else you can find in the details.
